How does it work?

  • Step 1 - We collect peoples interest (form below)

  • Step 2 - Once we have over 20 people interested for a day/time we organise a weekly group.

  • Step 3 - We send out a booking form to all the people who were interested in that day/time slot.

  • Step 4 - You confirm your booking with a deposit (Which you get back in full if you come more than 3 times!)

  • Step 5 - You come along, make some new friends and talk German!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do we need to wait for 20 people to be interested before starting to meetup to practice?

We need to wait for (at least) 20 people to be interested in a day/time/location because of the people who are interested - we only expect around 50%-60% to actually end up committing to showing up. People are unreliable! Especially in big cities where there are lots of "more fun" things to distract them!

  • Why do we have to pay a booking deposit?

We ask for a booking deposit to ensure that people who say they will show up - actually show up. When people have "skin in the game" they will make an effort! We refund the booking fee if you show up more than 3 of the 5 sessions!! We are not trying to make money!

  • My German level is only A1 - can I come along?

Right now we ask that people have at least an A2 level of German as we want to actually be able to talk about more than just the very very basics. Be sure to come back to us when you are ready to take your German to the next level!

  • How do we make sure that it's not too hard/easy?

We usually organise it so that people are sitting together with others who are around the same level as them. If people are struggling then we'll move them to an easier table and if its to easy then we can put them on a more challenging table.

  • What if I will be away for most of the 5 weeks?

We ask that you only book in if you can make 3 of the 5 weeks - otherwise its not fair on the other people in your group. You can always join a group when you come back and can make a better commitment!

  • How often will these practice groups be running for?

To begin with we will be running the groups for 5 weeks - at the end of the 5 weeks you can stay with the same group if you choose too - you'll get first preference! We will be expanding them to run in several locations and on several days of the week - depending on the demand!

  • I'd like to help out - whats involved?

Great! We need all the help we can get - all you need to do is show up on the day, welcome new people(only if there are any) and keep the conversation in German!

  • I'd like to get in touch with you guys - how can I do that?
